Rescue Me ID: 13-05-20-00132Rango (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

I am looking for a good home for a very special boy. His name is Rango, and he just celebrated his 1st birthday. He is a Boxer mix, neutered, UTD on all shots, on heartworm preventative, and is micro-chipped. He was found as a puppy by myself, around Easter of last year. He was injured when I found him. He had a collar on that was so tight he could hardly breathe and when I approached him I saw that there was also a piece of yarn tied to the collar. The yarn had become embedded in his shoulder and he was dragging his foot. I swept him up in my arms and took him to my vet, Dr. David Fuller, at Hope Animal Clinic. Dr. Fuller removed the yarn ... (Read More)and treated the huge gash in his shoulder. He was hopeful that the leg would recover and could be saved but after 5 weeks he determined that the leg would have to be amputated. Rango is now a very healthy, high-energy, tri-pod! He gets around great with only 3 legs. He is very sweet and just wants to play. He needs a large fenced yard to run and play in. He does get tired pretty quickly though. I would like to find him a home with no other dogs. He likes to be the center of attention. He doesn't mind cats however. Rango is still looking for the right place. He needs to be the only dog in his household. Even though I nor anyone at the facility where he is boarding have ever seen any signs of aggression at all, it seems that the first owner had an incident where he attacked her border collie, and she tried to break up the fight bare handed and was bitten. Rango is a very special boy, and loves everyone. I raised him from a small puppy, along side my small miniature dog, Mini, and I never once saw an aggression from him. So with that said, I do not want to ever take the chance that he may ever hurt another dog. He has had playtime with other dogs where he is boarded, and there have been no problems. He is always supervised. He is weary, and wants a place to run and play. He is tired of the small run at the facility, and desperately needs a good home. Rango needs a fenced yard to run and play in. He loves being inside with you though. He is very loving and mischievous; after all he is still a puppy at heart. We celebrated his first birthday on January 8th 2013, of course that is only an estimated date. His bills are out of sight, and I am having a huge yard sale this weekend to try and reduce some of his debt. I love this dog and will search until I do in fact find him the right place to call home.If you can help this sweetheart find the right place, please also contact Tracy Hill: ([email protected]) (Less)
